Upgrading to a different Mac

There is currently no automated upgrade to move an existing instance to a different Mac model in place. Instead, you provision the new machine and our team migrates your data onto it for you.

  • Rent a new instance with the target specs you want.
  • Open a support ticket asking for data migration.
  • A MyRemoteMac technician performs a Time Machine copy of your source Mac onto the target Mac.
  • This migration is free.
  1. Order the new instance at app.myremotemac.com — pick the target model (see Choosing a plan).
  2. Email support@myremotemac.com (or open a ticket) requesting migration from your source instance to the new one. Include both instance names/IPs.
  3. A technician restores your data (apps, files, settings) onto the target machine via Time Machine.
  4. Once you’ve verified the new machine, cancel the old instance if you no longer need it.
