Your first connection

This guide takes you from a fresh order to a working macOS desktop.

Most standard machines are provisioned within minutes of payment (custom configurations can take up to 24 hours). Once ready, you’ll receive a welcome email and your machine appears in your dashboard at app.myremotemac.com.

You will need:

  • Host / IP address of your Mac
  • Username and password
  • A client app for your platform (see Connect)
  1. Open Finder → Go → Connect to Server (⌘K).
  2. Enter vnc://YOUR-IP:59010 and click Connect.
  3. Sign in with your username and password.

The built-in Screen Sharing app opens your remote desktop.

Terminal window
ssh your-username@YOUR-IP

Enter your password when prompted (or use a key for passwordless login). You now have a root-capable shell on your Mac.

If the connection times out, check your local firewall / VPN first — that’s the most common cause. The full checklist is in Troubleshooting → Connection issues.
